Temporary Summary

When Amie came to him - to try her damnedest to convince him to leave behind the forest alongside her and his half-brother - Rilvim was very clear in telling her where she could shove it. It’s the reason that, for the vast majority of his over two-century-long life so far, he was still in the Golmore jungle...up until around a decade ago, when his inability to control his lineage-granted abilities finally caught up to him.

Despite discovering this ‘issue’ at quite a young age, given that he remained in his solitary existence as a wood warder, most instances of his aether running low enough to trigger the frenzy were limited to the Golmore fauna. There were...a couple incidents of a village’s hunting party making the mistake of attempting to help him - so he didn’t die from whatever drained him of his aether in the first place – who got caught in the crossfire. But, their occupation was a dangerous one – a hunting party never returning was fairly common, so it didn’t even ring mild alarm bells.

It was a different story, however, when he was gravely injured while attempting to help to defend a settlement he’d visited to resupply. He accidentally drained all the aether from two nearby inhabitants in his frenzy, with the of the rest of that village bearing undeniable witness…

Rilvim was forced to flee in very short order in that immediate aftermath. The only reason he managed to skirt the hunting parties sent specifically for him was thanks to a fellow wood warder – whom he’d had a fairly close relationship with for multiple decades, and who already knew of his...condition.

He’d ascertained this little ‘problem’ was hereditary half a century before – after being told of several incidents of his own progeny being slain for the safety of their villages. Knowing this, he placed the blame for the loss of the only life he knew squarely on Amie’s shoulders. His entire life’s purpose since then has been to find her - and end her.

Nearly a decade into his exile, and his attachment to his former life (and continued denial that he’ll never be allowed to return) is evidenced with both his refusal to change his forest name, and that he found his most successful employment in The Black Shroud. He has to fund his revenge campaign somehow, after all – since said campaign was what brought him to Gridania in the first place, it was as good a place as any to stay.
